A wonderful, low-maintenance shrub for providing vibrant winter colour and fragrance to the garden, Hamamelis x intermedia ‘Arnold Promise’ is an RHS Award of Garden Merit variety of Witch Hazel, perfect for growing in beds, borders or large containers. During the dull winter months, this fabulous deciduous shrub shows off a burst of shaggy yellow blooms on its leafless branches which fill the air with a glorious, sweet scent. Throughout the rest of the year, this reliable shrub provides a good leafy green backdrop for neighbouring plants as well as continuous structure. To kick of its colourful season, the leaves ignite into fiery shades of red and orange before they fall, followed by its fabulous show of winter flowers. Hamamelis is ideal for adding colour and interest to mixed borders and woodland gardens. Grow Witch Hazel in borders in non-alkaline, rich fertile, well-drained soil. Choose a position in full sun or semi shade. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the soil to improve its structure and fertility. Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants become established. Prune hamamelis in spring, immediately after flowering. Remove any damaged or diseased stems and lightly shape the plant. After pruning, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the shrub. Position: Full Sun/Partial Shade. Height: Up to 3.5m when fully established. Spread: Up to 3.5m when fully established. Supplied as 1 x Hamamelis x intermedia ‘Arnold Promise’ (Witch Hazel) Plant in a 9cm Pot. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).Depending on the timing of your order you may not see flowers on this plant.
